TRAVCO GROUP GEARS UP FOR WTM LONDON

Travco Group was present at this year’s World Travel Market (WTM) with a delegation headed by Chairman of the Group, Mr. Hamed El Chiaty in addition to high-end delegation representing the various group divisions. Jaz Collection which was represented by Jaz Collection’s Group Director of Sales and Marketing, Nagla Madi in addition to the Director of Sales and Marketing, Ahmed Fouad. From Deutsche Hospitality side, Mr. Fotis Fakes, director leisure sales for international hotels was present to showcase the group’s hospitality brands’ latest developments. In addition, the acting General Manager of Travco Travel and General Manager of Touring International Mr. Amr Karim was present and from the cruise company Travcotels Mohamed Shabaka, Director of Sales & Marketing was present to shed light on the Nile Cruise coveted programs. The delegation had a very strong presence at this year’s show due to the number of prospective meetings with trade buyers.

Commenting on the outcome of the trade show in London, our inspirational Chairman Mr. Hamed El Chiaty gave a statement on the tourism industry of Egypt making a comeback following an unprecedented period of slow down. Mr. Chiaty said: “the tourism market is gradually improving in Egypt compared to the winter season of the previous year which saw a dramatic decline in inbound tourism due to the travel ban from the Russian and the UK markets. He carries on to mention that “Travco’s reservations has seen an increase of 70% from the German and English source markets as compared to the same period last year.” He is also seeing recovery signals from the Spanish and the US markets. In addition he attributes the visible increase in tourist traffic as a direct result of global exposure generated by events elaborating that “ the recently conducted ‘World Youth Forum’ held in Sharm El Sheikh places the country under the lime light once again and showcases the country’s readiness to receive its tourists in a safe and sound environment”.

Mr. Chiaty pointed out that the group’s efforts in promoting tourism exchange from the different source markets around the world will soon reap their results in revitalizing the tourism industry in Egypt.

In preparation for the upcoming growth in the tourism traffic, Mr. Chiaty emphasizes on Travco’s expansion with five new hotel properties to be opened in the coming three years. The total investment is estimated to be worth $300 million in the areas of Marsa Alam, Hurghada, Safaga, and Sheikh Zayed to cater for the surge in demand especially in Marsa Alam.

Mr. Chiaty, added that these 5 hotel projects are in various stages of development, culminating up to a total of 3,483 rooms spread across Egypt. The first to open their doors in summer of 2018 are in Marsa Alam namely the exclusive 150-room hotel, Maraya and Jaz Tamaraya housing up to 300 guestrooms. There is also the pristine development Giza Palace located in 6th October which will contain 393 rooms. Furthermore the group is eying further developments in a multi-phased hotel development in Safaga and others in Sahl Hashish and Soma Bay.

During the WTM, Travco Group showcased the new hotel properties that have recently joined its portfolio including those of the affiliated Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts. The landmark property that opened in the heart of Down Town Cairo, Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir was too the attention of many of our travel partners who were interested in the property’s unique offering from the very best in Arabian hospitality that is presented with the German flare renowned by the acclaimed hotel group.

The second property that has recently opened this year is the luxurious Steigenberger ALCAZAR located in Sharm El Sheikh which is gaining a lot of attention from our travel partners. Setting the bar in luxury hotels in the area of Nabq Bay, it promises to meet the needs of all travelers by providing amenities for both the leisure and business travelers alike. 

Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts will soon add the Cairo Pyramids Hotel to its ever growing portfolio. This is an exciting project due to its close proximity to the famous Giza Pyramids and Grand Egyptian museum. This will add a new level of luxury to all guests who seek to explore the rich history that Egypt has to offer. Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts will continue its expansion in Egypt and North Africa with its future properties in Sinai with the Taba Hotel & Nelon Village, and in Tunisia with the Steigenberger Marhaba Thalasse.
