Jaz Hotel Group signs a partnership with BRITA VIVREAU and Quanta Sustainable Solutions to install on-site water filtration technology and water bottling facilities - bidding farewell to single-use plastic water bottles across their hotels and resorts

For over a decade, proactive conservation and protection of the environment and natural resources have been critical parts of Jaz Hotel Group's corporate philosophy. Jaz Hotel Group is considered a pioneer of sustainable tourism in Egypt. For Jaz Hotel Group, sustainability is not just a marketing trend; it reflects the group's fundamental beliefs and understanding of responsibility. The group bases its business decisions on these beliefs to meet environmental and social targets such as resource preservation, CO2 emissions, waste reduction, and the protection of marine biodiversity. Jaz Hotel Group also champions the abolishment of single-use plastic throughout its operations. The global community has been relying heavily on single-use plastic items; 300 million tons of plastic are manufactured yearly, and 8 million tons are dumped into the oceans and digested by our marine neighbors. That's enough plastic to circle the Earth 4 times! For this reason, Jaz Hotel Group has been pioneering the search for sustainable solutions to abolish single-use plastics across its hotels and resorts. One of many initiatives launched is the newly formed strategic partnership with the German Company BRITA VIVREAU through QSS – Quanta Sustainable Solutions – the sole supplier of BRITA VIVREAU water filtration technology in Egypt. This partnership is part of the Jaz Hotel Group sustainability movement under the newly launched CSR initiative Jaz Gives Back. BRITA VIVREAU water filtration system has already been implemented at one of Jaz Hotel Group flagship properties Jaz Casa Del Mar Beach in Hurghada, where the use of single-use plastic water bottles has been completely phased out. Instead, water is bottled on-site in glass bottles using the BRITA VIVREAU water filtration technology. Transitioning from single-use plastic water bottles at Jaz Casa Del Mar Beach to BRITA VIVREAU water filtration system not only improves the carbon footprint by 86% but also having consistently great-tasting water available throughout the resort encourages Guest hydration and well-being. Moving forward, another 17 hotels in the Jaz Hotel Group portfolio have also signed contracts with BRITA VIVREAU through Quanta Sustainable Solutions, and by December 2022, all 17 properties will have their dispensers installed - all committed to drastically reducing single-use plastic. The partnership will then gradually expand until all hotels in Jaz Hotel Group complies by the end of 2023. Providing freshly filtered water from a BRITA VIVREAU water dispenser makes a considerable difference to the amount of waste produced by the hotels, as well as eliminating the negative environmental impact in the production and transportation of pre-packaged bottled water.
